Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us.

Numberock Inc. (“Numberock,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) operates Numberock.com, an ad-free educational platform that provides music-based instructional videos and related learning resources for K–12 mathematics. This Privacy Policy describes how information is collected, used, protected, and disclosed when schools, teachers, parents, and students use our services (the “Services”).

When Numberock provides Services to a school district, school, or local education agency (“LEA”), Numberock acts as a School Official with a legitimate educational interest under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”), 20 U.S.C. § 1232g and its implementing regulations. In this role, Student Data remains the property of and under the control of the LEA. Numberock uses Student Data solely for the purpose of providing and supporting the Services requested by the LEA and is subject to the LEA’s direction and control with respect to such data. Where a Data Privacy Agreement (“DPA”) exists between Numberock and an LEA, the terms of that DPA govern and supersede this Privacy Policy in the event of any conflict.

Numberock is intentionally designed to minimize the collection of personally identifiable student information. Students typically access the platform using anonymous or pseudonymous usernames and provider-assigned student identifiers. Numberock does not require student first or last names, student email addresses, phone numbers, or home addresses in order to use the Services. Any student-generated content that may be created within the platform is limited to what is necessary for instructional functionality and only when enabled by a teacher or LEA.

For teachers, parents, and other adult account holders, Numberock may collect basic account information such as name, email address, school or organization affiliation, and login credentials. This information is used solely to administer accounts, provide access to the Services, communicate about service-related matters, and provide customer support.

Numberock also collects limited technical and usage information necessary to operate and secure the platform. This may include IP addresses, browser or device information, cookies or similar technologies, and aggregated usage statistics. This information is used for system functionality, security monitoring, troubleshooting, and service improvement. It is not used for advertising or marketing to students.

Information collected through the Services is used solely to deliver educational content, maintain platform functionality, support teachers and parents, improve instructional effectiveness, and comply with legal obligations. Numberock does not use Student Data for advertising, behavioral profiling, or commercial marketing purposes, and does not sell Student Data to any third party.

Numberock is an ad-free platform. We do not display advertisements to students, do not use Student Data to inform or enable targeted advertising, and do not create marketing profiles of students or families. Communications regarding new features or updates are sent only to adult account holders, such as teachers, parents, or school administrators.

Numberock may use de-identified or aggregated data to improve educational outcomes, enhance platform performance, conduct internal research and development, and demonstrate the effectiveness of the Services. Numberock does not attempt to re-identify de-identified data. Any publication or presentation that references a specific LEA will occur only with that LEA’s prior written approval.

Student Data is not disclosed except as directed by the LEA, as required by law, or to trusted service providers who assist Numberock in operating the platform, such as hosting or security providers. These service providers, referred to as subprocessors, are contractually required to protect Student Data, to use it only for providing services to Numberock, and to maintain privacy and security protections consistent with this Privacy Policy and applicable DPAs.

Numberock employs administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or misuse. These safeguards include secure hosting environments, access controls, credential protections, and confidentiality obligations for employees and contractors who may have access to data.

In the event of a confirmed data security incident involving Student Data, Numberock will notify the affected LEA within seventy-two (72) hours of confirmation, unless notification is delayed at the direction of law enforcement. Numberock will cooperate with the LEA to provide relevant information regarding the incident and to support mitigation efforts as required by applicable law.

Student Data is retained only for as long as necessary to provide the Services. Upon written request from an LEA, Numberock will return or delete Student Data within a commercially reasonable timeframe and will provide confirmation of deletion upon request. De-identified data may be retained for permitted educational and research purposes.

Requests from parents or students to access, correct, or delete Student Data should be directed to the relevant LEA or school, consistent with FERPA procedures. If Numberock receives such a request directly, it will refer the request to the appropriate LEA for handling.

Numberock complies with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”). When the Services are used in a school context, the LEA or teacher acts as the parent’s authorized agent for consent. Data is collected solely for educational purposes and is not used for commercial marketing.

Numberock may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any material changes will be posted on Numberock.com and, where required, communicated to account holders or LEAs.

This Privacy Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to conflict of law principles.
